Jesus y Los Patos

it’s jason here. i’ve been in the Dominican Republic for a little over two weeks now and i’m just now getting this blog together. It is truly amazing how much I have been blessed in the last two weeks. from the people to the culture to every little intricate arrangement that has fallen into place, i cannot sing praise of the Lord enough. that said, there have been difficulties, but I’ve also seen how each has only been for my benefit. either a stripping away that which is unnecessary or a building up for what is needed. two verses have served to encourage me these last two weeks.

“…give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.” (Proverbs 30:8-9)

“But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:7-8 )

these two have only been amplified in what i’ve seen through the people i’ve had the privilege to get to know while here a short while.

otherwise, I am doing quite well. my host family is nothing short of amazing and i am picking up the language pretty quickly (with persistence!). i want to thank everyone for their prayers and support in this endeavor. if you would like to email, call, or write (old school is cool too!) just ask for contact info. or if you just want to be on the email update list, just drop a line. in all, i pray that He may be glorified!
